Key responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts – Meet with management to discuss the monthly management accounts to ensure that all balance sheet accounts have been reconciled, variances against budget in the P&L have been analytically reviewed, the yearend forecast has been updated and a cashflow statement for the month.
- Manage cashflow and resource effectively at all times.
- Preparing annual budgets and forecasting- Updating budget/reforecast template input files with year to date actuals and prior year actuals and current year budgets
- Drive the continuous improvement of processes to improve efficiency and throughput of purchase and sales invoices.
- Responsible for the year-end closing activities including audit and liaising with external auditor.
- Preparing and filing monthly VAT returns- Prepare and file the monthly VAT returns by the end of the month prior to the relevant date that payment is required.
- Review all weekly and monthly employee payments to ensure accuracy.
- Ensuring pension contributions are managed correctly.
- Liaising with bank on general and specific queries/issues/requests.
- Ensure all system rating is handled correctly.
- Authorizing payment runs
- Adhere to all relevant regulatory rules and guidance applicable to the role.
- Work with the business managers and hold monthly budget review meetings along with regular forecasts.
- Assisting with other work required to meet the month end reporting timetable, as well as undertaking any ad-hoc finance projects or tasks within the team, as requested by the MD.
- Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Supporting finance colleagues and wider group.
Skills and experience
- CIMA/ACA/ACCA/AAT Level 3 qualified or working towards qualification.
- Excellent attention to detail
- A methodical approach to query resolution
- High standard of accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Willingness to learn and desire to improve.
- Competent using Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
- Advanced Excel skills required knowledge of Power BI is a pro
